Hindi cinema is well known for its escapist and masala entertainment. Maximum movies made in Bollywood are for entertainment where it is implied that the audience will keep their brains at home and enjoy the roller coaster ride of a film for its entire duration. Last year Yash Raj Films gave us a dud in the form of #ThugsofHindostan, and this year they are back with #War. Will #War prove to be a winner at the box office or a loser? Let’s analyse…
Synopsis
#War tells the story of Kabir Luthra (#HrithikRoshan) who is one of the best soldiers of #India. Kabir has turned enemy to his people, and he is unstoppable. Khalid (#TigerShroff), who was trained by Kabir in the past, is pitted against Kabir to stop him. Who wins this battle? Is Kabir smart enough to outwit Khalid or does the student has some aces up his sleeve? The answers to these questions form the crux of the movie. #War is a completely keep-your-brains-at-home-and-come-to-watch kind of film. If you try to search for logic in this film your brain will go at war with you!! The makers of the film have heavily relied on the stardom of both Hrithik and Tiger Shroff. Both the stars have set the screen on fire with their amazing action.
Direction
#SiddharthAnand’s direction is superb. He has mastered the action genre, especially after directing #BangBang. He has cooked an awesome dish flavoured with a right blend of suspense along with twists and turns which makes watching #War intensely engaging.
Technical Department
Cinematography is superb. The different locales of the world are captured masterfully. The film looks rich in frames, and the action scenes are a treat to your eyes. Editing is average. Music is good but songs pop out from nowhere. Ideally, this film should have been made without songs. They hamper the pace of the story and also dilute its impact.
Story and Screenplay
The story by #AdityaChopra and #SiddharthAnand does not seem original. Screenplay (#ShridharRaghvan and # SiddharthAnand) and dialogues (#AbbasTyrewala) make it an interesting film with apt twists that keep the audience hooked to their seats till the very end.
Performances
If there is an actor who can be both pure class (#Super30) and pure mass (#BangBang ) entertainer, it has to be none other than #HrithikRoshan! He is deadly in the film. Hrithik is easily one of the finest talents of #India today. Time and again he has proved that after Khans and Akshay, he has the power to pull the box office records on his bare shoulders. Hrithik is in tremendous form, and he nails the movie with his best action stunts and dances. Hrithik is actually the sole reason to see the film. #TigerShroff equally matches Hrithik in both dance and action. Tiger has come a long way as far as his acting in his debut movie #Heropanti was concerned. The USP of the film is the confrontation scenes between Hrithik and Tiger. These scenes will blow your mind!! #VaaniKapoor is wasted in an extended cameo. Even the talented #Arif Zakaria is wasted in a small role. #AshutoshRana gives a superb performance. His calmness and anger both are well captured and it’s a highlight of a seasoned performer. The acting of #AnupriyaGoenka is passable.
WMR Verdict
#War is a perfect holiday gift for both Hrithik and Tiger fans, family audiences, and action lovers. #War is what Hindi cinema is all about: Entertainment, Entertainment and Entertainment!
This movie is a must-watch for everyone!!
