Synopsis

'UnDekhi' is an edge-of-the classic riveting tale based on the dark side of Indian society. Throughout the 10 episodes of this web series, the audience will witness how the powerful men in our country use their position in the society to hide their dark secrets. On the other hand, there is a honest police officer who is trying hard to do his duty. Is the police officer able to do his job in this corrupted system run by the powerful men or does evil triumph over truth? - You have to watch the web series to get this answer.

Direction And Script Analysis

'UnDekhi' is based on true events, and the storyline is set in Himachal Pradesh. The director Ashish R Shukla has got an interesting storyline, and he has been able to execute the concept quite well in most of the parts. The makers of the show have kept the treatment very raw and genuine so that the audience can connect with it. It is not an easy job to keep the audience intrigued throughout the 10 episodes of the web series.

The makers have made sure that the audience would like to move to the next episode and that's the positive part of it's writing. However, there are few loopholes in the plots as well, and after a certain point of time, the series becomes quite predictable. There are some unnecessary elements which are added to the script to keep the screenplay engaging. Otherwise, the series would have been a bit more compact.

Performances

The performances of the ensemble cast have taken the web series to the next level. Dibyendu Bhattacharya is a gem of an actor, and his performance in this series will be remembered for a long time. The way he has been able to maintain the tone of his character throughout the 10 episodes of the web series, is certainly commendable.

The makers have taken a good decision to cast a Bengali actor in the role of a police officer from Bengal. His expressions and mannerisms match the character and that has worked well for the web series.

Harsh Chhaya looks genuine on screen. His character has all the bad vibes, and the actor has been able to portray the emotions of the character appropriately.

Abhishek Chauhan has delivered a decent performance yet again after the highly acclaimed TVF show 'Cubicles'.

Surya Sharma is very much powerful and ruthless with dark shades in his character. Apeksha Porwal gives a genuine performance as a tribal girl. Anchal Singh's character graph is quite fascinating. Ankur Rathee, Ayn Zoya and Sayandeep Sen are also impressive in their own characters.

The rest of the supporting cast (including Vaarun Bhagat, Olivia Merey, Meenakshi Sethi) have also done their job quite well. So, the performances are certainly the USP of this web series.

Technical Details

Editing

The editing of the web series could have been more compact. The makers should have paid more attention in this department. There are a few dull moments in the middle episodes and the pace suddenly goes up from the 9th episode of the series. A 8-episode thriller might have been more attractive to the audience. However, the makers have tried to give importance to each and every character of the web series and that's why they have chosen a more detailed way.

Cinematography

The cinematography has been brilliant throughout the web series. The beauty of Himachal Pradesh has been captured really well, and it will surely catch the eyes of the viewers. The colour palate which is used in this web series is also very unique. The scenes in the jungle are shot beautifully.

Music and Background Score

The background score is impressive, and it aptly complements the theme of the web series.

Overall Review

There are a lot of crime thrillers available for the audience on various OTT platforms. 'UnDekhi' will stand out because of it's raw treatment and genuine performances. The web series surely deserves to be in your watchlist this weekend.
