Luck is an important factor in our lives. We all feel that if we are failing, our luck must not be in our favour. But, is it ok to depend on luck only? This week’s released film #TheZoyaFactor, which is based on Anuja Chauhan's book of the same name, tries to explore this aspect. Does it prove lucky or unlucky as a film? Let’s analyse
Synopsis
#TheZoyaFactor tells the story of Zoya Singh Solanki (#SonamKapoor) who is unlucky in love and her job and always messes up things. She gets an assignment to do an ad shoot with the cricket team and her luck favours them to win the matches which they were losing. Does her luck change the fortunes of the cricket team or does she end up messing in this area too? Does Zoya manage to find her prince charming? Is luck more powerful than hard work? The answers to all these questions form the crux of the movie.
Direction
After attempting light comedy films like #TereBinLaden, #TereBinLadenDeadorAlive, #TheShaukeens and after making a serious film like #ParmanuTheStoryofPokhran, #AbhishekSharma is back to the comedy genre once again with #TheZoyaFactor. His direction is not upto the mark compared with his previous films but still, his attempt is good and decent.
Technical Department
The story and screenplay are average. Editing could have been better especially in the second half of the film. Cinematography is fine but VFX are poor. Music is good.
Performances
#SonamKapoor was introduced by #SanjayLeelaBhansali in the 2007 film #Saawariya, but the film bombed at the box office. Then, she did many films but it was #Neerja which got noticed for her acting skills. Sonam does not disappoint in this movie also. It’s not at all a great bravura act but still, she is likeable and relatable. #SanjayKapoor does a decent job. Rest of the cast have done a fine job; however, the film belongs to #DulquerSalmaan! He is a gem of an actor. As a captain of the Indian Cricket team and as a cricketer, he gives his best! His body language gels very well with the character and he surely will be applauded for his performance in the film.
WMR Verdict
#TheZoyaFactor may not be a great film by any standards, but still it is a one-time watch. There are chances that the family audience will love this movie.
WMR rating: 3/5
