Introduction
Stories from rural India have their own innocence and charm. Deepankar Prakash’s MOOSO-THE MOUSE is also based on rural India. So, is the film worth a watch? Let’s analyze
Synopsis
MOOSO-THE MOUSE narrates the story of two cousin brothers who have a dream of purchasing a piece of land and for it, they work as labourers wherever they find work. They go for a job in a new place. The events that follow thereafter form the crux of the story.
Direction
Deepankar Prakash is a filmmaker to watch out for! His direction is matured, and he deserves full marks for not deviating from the core subject. His direction is top-notch.
Technical Aspects
Yogesh Narang’s cinematography is good. The rural India is well-captured by the lensman. Editing by Sagar Chorat is apt. Story and screenplay by Deepankar Prakash and Charan Singh Pathik are praiseworthy. The film's pace is slow but you do not get bored. That's the beauty of script!! Music and background score are good.
Performances
Lagaan introduced a superb actor called Yashpal Sharma to the world. His performances in the movies Apaharan, Ab Tak Chappan, Gangaajal made him a star. In his long illustrious career, MOOSO-THE MOUSE will be remembered forever!
MOOSO-THE MOUSE is probably his best work! I found the innocence of Sanjeev Kumar which he had in Khilona in Yashpal Sharma’s performance. He plays a somewhat mentally retarded man with gusto. Another actor to watch out for is Prageet Pandit. He acts perfectly and you can feel the emotional turmoil of his character especially in the climax.
Veterans Anupam Shyam Ojha, Rajendra Gupta, Brijendra Kala lend good support. Ravi Gossain, Ishtiyak Khan, and Shweta Padda act well in their respective roles.
WMR verdict
MOOSO-THE MOUSE may not be a typical commercial potboiler but is deep meaningful cinema. Such stories need to be told.
