ANOTHER BIGGIE FOR THE BIG B: DADASAHEB PHALKE AWARD

#DadasahebPhalkeaward is considered as the most prestigious cinematic award in the Indian film Industry. This year the 50th #DadasahebPhalkeaward was presented to India’s highly adored and respected star of the millennium, Shri #AmitabhBachchan. The Indian President Shri #RamNathKovind conferred the honor at a special ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on December 29, 2019. The 77-year-old actor was accompanied by his wife #JayaBachchan and son #AbhishekBachchan at the award presentation.

Post the receipt of the award, Mr. Bachchan addressed and thanked the dignitaries of the event, the government, the Information and Broadcast ministries, as well as the jury and winners of the Indian National award. He expressed his utmost gratitude to the audience and mentioned that he owed his award to them. He stated that “God has been kind, there have been blessings of my parents, the support of the filmmakers, producers, co-actors from the industry, but I'm most indebted to the love and constant encouragement by the Indian audience. That's the reason I'm standing here. I accept this award with utmost humility and gratitude.”

He also passed a witty comment coated with mild sarcasm that should this award be considered as an indication that he has worked enough and it’s time for him to sit at home and relax. Big B mentioned that he is still looking forward to doing more work and already has some projects on his plate to complete. After his appearance in the movie #Badla and TV show #KBC season 11 in 2019, Amitabh Sir will be seen in #GulaboSitabo, #Chehre, #Jhund, #ABaniCD and #Brahmastra in 2020.

The first #DadasahebPhalke award was presented in the year #1969. This year marks the birth centenary year of #DadasahebPhalke, who is considered as the father of Indian cinema. The year 1969 also marks #AmitabhBachchan’s acting debut in the Indian cinema as one of the seven protagonists in #SaatHindustani and a voice narrator of the National Award-winning film #BhuvanShome. Other veteran Bollywood actors in the same league to have received the Phalke award include #PrithvirajKapoor (1971), #RajKapoor (1987), #AshokKumar (1988), #DilipKumar (1994), #DevAnand (2002), #Pran (2012), #ShashiKapoor (2014), #ManojKumar (2015), and #VinodKhanna (2017).

Within a span of 50 years from 1969─2019 #AmitabhBachchan has bagged many National and International awards as well as honors which include 4 National Awards for his performances in #Agneepath, #Black, #Paa and #Piku; 15 Filmfare Awards; 11 Screen Awards; 6 IIFA awards; and 8 honorary doctorates (includes International too) for his contribution to cinema.

The Government of India awarded him with the prestigious #PadmaShri award in 1984, the #PadmaBhushan in 2001 and the #PadmaVibhushan in 2015. France's highest civilian honor, the Knight of the Legion of Honor, was conferred upon him by the French Government in 2007 for his "exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond". Bachchan became the first living Asian to have been immortalized in wax at #MadameTussauds London in June 2000. Yet, he humbly considers the love, appreciation, warmth, and respect his audience gives him as his biggest achievement.

Our entire team at #WiseMovieReviews wishes hearty congratulations to Big B for receiving the prestigious #DadasahebPhalkeaward.
